What Does Mental Health Mean?
The term mental health has different meanings to different people. Sometimes people hear the words mental health and they think about the opposite – about mental illness. Other people think about mental health and think about a positive state of mind. In reality, mental health means much more than either of those two meanings. As a life coach or wellness practitioner, it’s important for you to understand what mental health is all about.
Mental health is a condition of state in which an individual is capable of living their life according to their own terms, in a cognitive, emotional, spiritual way that is congruous with their value system. It is only when this condition breaks down that one experiences problems with mental health. As a wellness practitioner, it’s up to you to provide support where it’s needed so a person can again achieve that condition of state known as mental health.
